Turning Pennsylvania ideas and Pennsylvania Innovations into Pennsylvania Jobs

Growing Pennsylvania's Technology Economy

The Commonwealth's technology development strategy is overseen by the Technology Investment Office (TIO), which is led by the Honorable Rebecca O. Bagley, Deputy Secretary for Technology Investment, Department of Community and Economic Development. The activites of the TIO are governed by the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority, a board appointed by the Governor and chaired by the Honorable Dennis Yablonsky, Secretary, Department of Community and Economic Development.

The mission of the TIO is to serve as a catalyst for the growth and competitiveness of Pennsylvania companies through technology-based economic development (TBED) initiatives including funding, partnerships and support services. The goal of the TIO is to ensure that the variety of TBED organizations and initiatives located throughout the Commonwealth are working collaboratively to fully leverage the wealth of research, capital resources, and support services available to build a comprehensive infrastructure that supports company growth.

In FY 07-08, the TIO will manage more than $84 million in annual appropriations and will be responsible for overseeing more than $1.7 billion in investments.
